Lozer Cup
Deerfield River whitewater kayak race series

Fine PrintRyan ShackletonThe 4th annual Lozer Cup has been cancelled. The event, held on Sundays during the Deerfield River dam release season, will not take place. Check the Deerfield River release schedule for Dryway & Fife Brook release information and to see the dates of the cancelled Lozer Cup races.

If you do decide to show up at the Dryway (aka Monroe Bridge) put-in with your fastest boat at high noon on the scheduled Sundays, surely there will be no other paddlers looking to race. It goes without saying that the change in the format of the mass start will not happen this year. It had been the plan to have all racers line up, facing upstream, at the start of the race. Another change to the 2010 format, an opening weekend race, will also have to wait for another year because we'll all be minding our speed out there on the Dryway. It's a pity because the easy to remember schedule had an official Lozer Cup race scheduled during every Sunday release that follows a Saturday release.

Free to enter and open to everyone, the Lozer Cup would have awarded fabulous prizes. With multiple classes tracked including "Retro", Long Boat, Creeker, C1, Shredder, Raft, Player, and Knuckle Dragger, there would have been an opportunity for all to participate.
